Dame Judi Dench - The Northcliffe Collection
Dame Judi Dench in 1964
In 1964, Dame Judi Dench made her film debut in The Third Secret, a psychological thriller directed by Charles Crichton. Though her role was relatively small, it marked her transition from acclaimed stage actress to screen performer. At the time, she was already gaining recognition for her Shakespearean work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, having joined them in 1961 after several seasons at the Old Vic.
This is such a striking image of Dame Judy Dench.
