Winston Churchill (30th November 1874-  24th Jan 1965 ) campaigned as a Liberal Member of Parliament and is seen here addressing a crowd in the April 1908 by-election in Manchester North West.

Churchill was the sitting MP but lost his seat to Tory candidate William Joynson-Hicks. Churchill was soon back in Parliament when on 9 May 1908 he won the Dundee By-Election.
