The Chipperfield family has been involved with Circus for over three hundred years with the first recorded performance to be at the Thames Frost Fair in 1684. Chipperfield was one of the biggest circuses in Europe with a tent that had a capacity for 6 thousand people. In this picture we see wire walker Louise Jones at Chipperfield’s Circus 1954.
