St Gotthard Pass by Brian Harris

BH - Seen here is part of the ‘old’ road built from paving stones, this leads to the world-famous ‘Tremola road’ with its 38 (or more) hairpin bends…one of the great European mountain drives. This image is from a set of photographs Brian Harris is making of the Gotthard Massif in central Switzerland. I have traveled over the pass many times since the early 1960s and have always marveled at the almost gothic beauty of the rock formations changing in shape and form as the weather closes in on the mountain.
